The outfielder was instrumental for the Houston Astros winning the World Series in the 2017 season.
Toronto's Blue Jays reached their initial championship series since 1993 by defeating the Seattle Mariners in the seventh seventh game of the American League Championship Series.
Behind 3-1, the star outfielder delivered a three-run home run in the seventh frame, leading the only Canadian franchise in MLB to a four games to three win in the series. They will now face the defending champions, holders of the current crown, in the upcoming World Series.
"I'm just so happy for this squad, our city, Canada," Springer stated, an integral part of the Houston Astros team that claimed the 2017 championship. "What an unbelievable moment."
George Springer has now connected for 23 post-season home runs, placing him third on the list trailing only Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (twenty-seven).
"There's probably not another player in the world that I want up in that moment except for George Springer with his playoff prowess," noted Schneider.
The Mariners, after leading the series two games to none and three games to two, are still the only MLB franchise yet to make an appearance in a World Series.
Wilson said "there's no question that it's going to sting" after his club's elimination at their home ballpark, but commended their efforts throughout the year.
"This is a unique group. Unfortunately that we finished on the unsuccessful side of this one," he remarked.
Toronto's team claimed the World Series on their two prior appearances in 1992 and 1993, and are set to host the Los Angeles in the first game on Friday.
