Rugby league's administration has announced that athletes who join the “rebel” R360 league will be prohibited for 10 seasons.

R360, scheduled to begin in October 2026, is aiming to attract athletes from both codes with lucrative deals and a condensed game calendar.

Leading NRL players have reportedly been approached by the breakaway group, which will feature six to eight men's sides and four women's sides based in major cities globally.

The Samoan the player, who represents his NRL club in the league, has said he has had discussions with the breakaway league.

Ryan Papenhuyzen, Zac Lomax, Haas and Gray are also believed to be considering joining the rebel league.

Eight major rugby union teams, among them Australia, recently declared a prohibition on athletes signing with R360 appearing in international matches.

“We have consulted our franchises and we've acted decisively,” stated ARLC chairman V'Landys.

“Sadly, there will continually be entities that seek to pirate our game for monetary profit.

“They don't invest in talent pipelines or the advancement of talent. They only leverage the dedication of existing bodies, putting players at risk of financial loss while gaining personally.

“They are, in reality, copying the game.”

The organization is established by former England World Cup winner Tindall and funded by commercial backers.

Following the potential rugby union sanctions were declared recently, it stated: “We want to work collaboratively as integrated into the international rugby schedule.

“The series is arranged with bespoke schedules for male and female sides and the organization will permit participants for global fixtures, as written into their deals.”

The new league will request authorization for its initiatives from World Rugby, rugby union's administrative organization, at its official gathering in the coming year.
