Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched operations throughout the Middle East in response for a "massive" and ongoing attack against it by the United States and Israeli forces.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area close to the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any damage is uncertain and the US has yet to issue a statement.

Missile Defenses Activated

In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to US military bases - said they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.

In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was attacking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That US-Israeli operation - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted areas linked to the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the Iranian people to rise up against the leadership.

Regional Fallout

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military reported it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE stated that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses dealt with the missiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a series of missiles," it added.

Officials reported wreckage fell on a neighborhood in the capital, resulting in some property damage and fatalities.

The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
